The Assistant Financial Controller plays a critical role in supporting the financial health and operational excellence of Westlake Group. This position is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of accounting operations across multiple business divisions, including oversight of core accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and capable of supporting the CFO in both strategic and day-to-day financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:
·       Assist in the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll          processing
·       Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP
·       Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
·       Strengthen and monitor internal accounting controls and procedural compliance
·       Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports for management and stakeholders
·       Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and tracking financial performance against benchmarks
·       Provide financial insight to support strategic decision-making across departments
·       Assist with audit preparation, including compiling schedules and documentation for external auditors
·       Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting laws, practices, and regulations
·       Ensure timely and accurate financial data entry and reporting using accounting software and spreadsheets
·       Communicate clearly with senior management, providing financial updates and strategic input as needed
Skills & Qualifications:
·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
·       Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity is a plus
·       Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
·       Certified in accounting software (QuickBooks)
·       Certified in Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
·       Knowledge of construction accounting, Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, forecasting and budgeting 
·       Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail
·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·       Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a team
·       Capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
·       Prior experience in plumbing, construction, or trades-related industry is a plus.
